USA
Nine tenths of all wine produced in the USA comes from California, and much of this is due to micro climates produced by cooling influences from fogs and breezes from the Pacific Ocean. Napa and Sonoma Valley are highly regarded. The favoured grapes include Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc which is often matured in oak and may also be labelled 'Fume Blanc'. Zinfandel is considered unique to the region, it is used for producing full bodied reds or a rose wine labelled ‘White Zinfandel' or 'Blush'.
