Beer – or 'baere' from Anglo-Saxon has been around for over 5000 years in Egypt and the Romans noted the Gallic and Saxon habit for beer drinking. But the Romans noted the love of the Britons to gather in ale-houses to govern and adjudicate – nothing changed in 3000 years!
The next time you taste beer look for 'Aroma', often described as 'flowery' where aromatic hops have been used. 'Bitterness', balances the richness of the malt and 'Tannin', often overlooked but necessary for the feel and taste of many brews.
