Better known for its medium sweet, slightly sparkling rose wine and "Vinho Verde". The latter literally means "green wine" but refers not to the colour but to its character. Vinho Verde wines should be consumed when young to enjoy the fresh acidity and light alcohol. Watch out for wine with "garrafeira" meaning wine aged for a significantly longer period than usual.
