Home of Rioja wine, blended from Tempranillo and Granacha. Spain has long had a premium for aged wines so remember: ‘Vino Joven'– youngest; 'Crinza'– aged before release; 'Reserva' and 'Gran Reserva' have increased ageing and often include time in new oak casks. For Rioja style, without the Rioja price, try wines from Navarra. For exceptional sparkling wine 'Cava' is a must. Many cava’s are still produced by hand using traditional methods which tend to produce smaller bubbles.
